Blue Angels Air Show at Jones Beach

... and many moreGetting there: Take Long Island Railroad (LIRR) to Freeport and walk downstairs for the next n88 NICE Bus that will take you to Jones Beach. Bus ticket is the same price as OHMNY card.
TRAIN SCHEDULE: Pick up any LIRR from your boarding station that will get you to Freeport Station at 8:03AM.
- From Penn Station the 7;21AM train works
- From Jamaica Station, the 7:45AM train works.
We will all meet at Freeport Station at 8:03AM. Then we'll pick up the 8:30AM NICE Bus to Jones Beach.
The Air Show starts at 10am. We're getting there EARLY to score good viewing spots. The show runs until 3pm.
After the Air Show, there's much to see and do ... swim in the ocean, stroll the boardwalk, get a bite to eat at one of the many concession stands, play miniature golf, OR ... WAIT FOR IT ... GO ZIPLINING 😆🤩

WHAT TO BRING AND WEAR: it's SUMMER so dress for the weather; bring beach gear and paraphernalia, hat, sunscreen, bug spray, and whatever else you may need for a day at the beach

Location not specified yetLet's take a hike at Mohonk Preserve. For those without cars coming from NYC, you can take Trailways bus out of the Port Authority to New Paltz. Then we will pick up the FREE Nature Bus that will take us to the Testimonial Gateway Trailhead.
GETTING THERE: We're taking the Trailway bus out of NY's Port Authority Bus Terminal that goes to New Paltz.
- The 7AM NYC Trailways bus from the Port Authority Bus Terminal arrives in New Paltz by 8:35AM. One-way bus ticket is $26.00 (depends on how early you purchase your ticket). Ticket can be purchased in advance at this link: https://trailways.com/
- Bus arrives in New Paltz by 8:35AM. The bus terminal is located at 139 Main Street, New Paltz.
- Once in New Paltz we'll pick up the FREE Ulster County Nature Bus that picks up right outside the New Paltz bus station and will get us to the trailhead by 8:50am.
- DRIVERS: you can meet us at the Testimonial Gateway parking lot by no later than 9am please.
HIKE INTENSITY: This will be a Moderate intensity hike.
PACE: This is a LEISURELY PACE HIKE AND NO ONE WILL BE LEFT BEHIND. NO FAST HIKERS PLEASE! You don't have to be a world class hiker to do this hike but you should be able to handle any physical requirements for the duration of the hike.
THE IMPORTANT STUFF:
- Dress in non-cotton layers.
- Wear appropriate shoes suitable for hiking.
- Bring at least 3 liters of liquid to stay hydrated.
- Bring lunch and snacks for yourself.
- Bring sunscreen, bug spray and head cover
- Bring a sense of adventure and a positive attitude. A smile also goes a long way. Please leave the drama and crankiness at home.
DURATION: This is an all-day hike but you can leave on your own at any time. We won't judge. Much.
APRES HIKE: there are many fine dining options in New Paltz. We'll find a place to sit and eat and drink and get social.
RETURN BUS: Pick whichever return bus of your choice. There is a 6PM bus back to NYC by 7:40PM (depending on traffic), as well as 8PM bus. It's SUMMER with long daylight hours. Stay late and explore New Paltz after the hike!
WEATHER: As Trailway bus ticket is non-refundable, this Meetup is rain or shine!

NOTE: I am not leading this hike. This is a public hike led by a park staff member. You must pre-register ———> HERE
About the Event: No matter if you’re a professional or a beginner, Nissequogue has both picturesque natural scenery and beautiful man-made structures that are sure to make any photo stand out. After the hike, be sure to send your photos over for a chance to have them displayed in the Nissequogue River State Park Office! Camera’s will not be provided and please wear appropriate clothing for hot weather and ticks! (Meet in the Charles & Helen Reichert Administration Building)
$4 per person upon arrival. Reservations are required for all programs. Space is limited. If you are unable to keep your reservation, please cancel so others may have the opportunity to attend. Please try to arrive 10 minutes early. Please make sure all members in your party have a registered ticket.
Getting there: LIRR to Kings Park then 6-min uber ride to meeting point. I will be taking LIRR. Let me know if you want to go together.
