QuantCon Hackathon

The QuantCon Hackathon is a free, data-centric hackathon. Quants, data scientists, students, and anyone else interested in quant finance, who would like to put their trading strategies to the test, are welcome to participate.

Participants will learn how to build a trading algorithm with various data sets and have the chance to submit their final algorithms for a grand prize.

Winners will be determined using a rigorous, quantitative judging process.

QuantCon Hackathon 2017 Agenda
Participants can submit an algorithm of their choosing by the end of the day at 4:30 PM ET. Along with the exact rules, additional materials will be made available a few days prior to the competition.

  • 11AM – 12PM: Introduction to Quantopian, dataset showcases, and explanation of competition rules
  • 12:00PM – 12:30PM: Lunch
  • 12:30PM – 3:30PM: Hackathon Afternoon Session. Competitors will be free to ask Quantopian panelists questions
  • 3:45PM: Final announcement of 4:30PM deadline
  • 4:00PM – 4:30PM: Submission deadline, wrap up

Thank you to our QuantCon Hackathon Sponsor, SigOpt

SigOpt optimizes trading and machine learning models with less trial and error by efficiently configuring the tunable parameters of these models via our ensemble of optimization methods behind a simple API. This results in captured performance that may otherwise be left on the table by conventional techniques while also reducing the time and cost for developing and optimizing new models.

The Hackathon will be held on April 30th, 2017 (the day following QuantCon NYC 2017 (https://quantcon2017.splashthat.com/)). It will be held at Galvanize, 315 Hudson Street. Lunch will be provided.
