Fort Greene to South Williamsburg Walk

Details
Description: We'll walk at a moderate pace from Fort Greene to South Williamsburg, Brooklyn. First, we'll walk through Fort Greene and Clinton Hill, going past antebellum townhouses, Victorian mansions, and carriage houses. If it is open, we'll then stop at Pratt Institute to look at the sculpture garden and have lunch. You can bring your own lunch or buy lunch in the area. Afterwards, we'll go to South Williamsburg, the center of activities for the reclusive Satmar sect known for their social isolation from most forms of secular culture. This walk is about 4 or 5 miles.
Cost: The cost of this event is $2 per person, which is paid at the start of the walk. This is for the organizer's Meetup preparation costs and fees.
Meeting Time/Place: The meeting time is 11:00 AM. The meeting place is outside the entrance to the Target Department Store at 139 Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn, New York. This is the Target Department Store entrance located on the street level facing Atlantic Avenue. This street level Target entrance is right across the street from the front of the Barclay Center Arena. Before the walk, restrooms are available in the Target Department Store (Restrooms are located upstairs.)
Transportation Options: Take the D, N, Q, R, 2, 3, or 4 subway train to Atlantic Avenue. The Atlantic Avenue/Pacific Street station has many subway platforms, stairways, and tunnels, so allow extra time to get to the meeting place. The Target Department Store is above the subway trains and LIRR.
Finishing Time/Place: This walk will finish about 4:15 PM in South Williamsburg, Brooklyn. At the end of the walk, we'll be near the M or J subway lines at Marcy Avenue/Broadway.
Rainy weather cancels the walk. Therefore, if it is raining, or the forecast is for rainy conditions, I will post a cancellation notice Sunday morning. If I don't post a cancellation notice, I plan to be at the meeting place.
If you are registered for this walk and can't attend, please change your RSVP online. This allows the members who are on the waiting list to attend. Thank you.
Note: This is a sociable walk, not a walking tour. Later this year, I will lead architectural/historical tours in these neighborhoods.
Please note that I changed the meeting place from the original e-mail.
