Walk in Scenic Woodlands and Historic Neighborhoods in the Town of Mamaroneck.

Details
Note: This event is a one-way walk from the Mamaroneck RR station down to the Larchmont RR station. This event also is a variation of my previous walks in the Town of Mamaroneck.
This off-the-beaten path walk features a meandering river (sometimes it looks more like a brook), a northeastern hardwood forest, a picturesque 60-acre park (with a lake, a pond, dam/spillway, abandon structures, and small waterfalls), an historic wide dirt trail with connections to famous people from the 19th Century, and neighborhoods that have lovely Medieval-looking Tudor style houses with decorative half timbering.
Note: We will not be walking near the waterfront at Long Island Sound. Instead we will be walking inland in the Town of Mamaroneck.
I'll comment at points of interest, but you will have plenty of time to socialize with others.
Cost: $5.00 per person, paid (in cash) at start of this event.
Moderate pace (not slow). You have to be capable of doing the entire length of this walk and keeping up with this group's moderate (not slow) pace to attend this event. The leader determines the pace.
This one-way walk is about 7 3/4 miles.
Terrain:
About 50 percent of the time we'll be walking on paved streets/sidewalks in beautiful quiet suburban neighborhoods tucked far away from the busy shopping centers and main streets. One historic neighborhood has a small river with a cascading waterfalls going down through the center of the neighborhood. Some of these streets will have some uphills and downhills.
During the other 50 percent of the time, we'll be walking in the woods on dirt trails.
One of these dirt trails is wide with small ups and downs, more like a nature trail. On this trail, there will be shredded wood mulch, here and there, on the ground and some wide boardwalks so that nobody has to walk on muddy grounds. People sometimes even jog/run on these sections. This historic trail, once a bridle path, is scenic and tranquil.
Other dirt trails will be narrower and have, at times, small tree roots or small rocks sticking out from the ground and, at a couple of spots, rock slabs sticking out from the ground. These trails will have grand views of the waterfront.
However, all of these dirt trails are not challenging to walk on.
THERE WILL BE NEITHER ROCK SCRAMBLING NOR STEEP UPHILLS OR DOWNHILLS ON THESE TRAILS.
Bring hiking boots and possibly a hiking pole if you would feel more comfortable having them while walking on these dirt paths. Low hiking boots or shoes with excellent support could be worn, too.
BRING LUNCH/PLENTY OF WATER. Our lunch spot will have panoramic views of a lake/dam/spillway. THERE WILL BE NO PLACE TO BUY FOOD OR WATER AT OUR LUNCH SPOT.
No dogs, please!
If you register and later cannot go to this event, please change your response to "Not Going" as I take "No-Shows" very seriously.
Restrooms:
Indoor restrooms should be open not far from the Mamaroneck RR station. And indoor restrooms should be open near the end of the walk close to the Larchmont RR station. An indoor restroom also might be open near the middle of the walk.
Bring sun protection.
Possibly bring insect repellent. You might not need it, but have it just in case.
There is no need to post why you can't make the walk.
