NYSE 102nd Christmas tree lighting

There is no place like New York City for Xmas. There are hundreds of activities for you to enjoy throughout the city. Christmas tree lighting is an activity throughout the boroughs.

As the holidays approach, I thought it would be nice to visit one of the tree lighting events in the City. As everyone knows, the most famous tree lighting is the Rockefeller Plaza tree, but hundred of thousands attend it, so you won’t see much. How about going to one that has the feel of a neighborhood, yet offers some good entertainment. One of the lesser known, yet outstanding tree lighting is the NYSE event. NYSE has been lighting their tree for 102 years.

Last year, there were quite a few kiosk of vendors giving attendees different dishes and hot chocolate. Now, more people seem to know this wonderful event, but nowhere near the Rockefeller one. If you have not attended this event, you are missing a wonderful event.

The 102nd NYSE tree lighting will be as spectacular as the ones in the past.. The very first NYSE Xmas tree lighting was in 1923.

The festivities begin at 3:30pm. For several years, We will be there for the NYSE closing of the exchange and Santa's arrival. The tree is lit around 5:00-6:00pm. This year entertainment will feature School of Rock, NYC Gay Men’s Chorus, the Brass Queens, Deborah Cox and more.

Finally, in years past, it has not been crowded but now it has become more crowded as more people know about it.
