About Reading Day 2025

Tomorrow is March 25th, the date of the downfall of the Lord of the Rings (Sauron) and the fall of Barad-dûr. Tolkien fans worldwide gather to celebrate by reading favourite passages! We’ve been holding Reading Day events for more than decade. This year we will have to remember this day on our own. Hopefully, next year we can resume our traditional gatherings.
I share a picture of one of our past gatherings in 2013 when there was much interest in Tolkien probably due to the popularity of the movies. For more than decade folks came to Manhattan to join us and share their favorite readings and essays by and about Tolkien. The Covid pandemic changed much. We turned to online events. This year, I wasn’t able to get access to a good setup to do an online reading. Hopefully next year, we will be able to resume. Have a great year fans! Be sure to look for other online events.
