Welcome to NYC Chill Adventures and Random Events (C.A.R.E.) 🤗
This group is for those weekend warriors, year-round explorers, adrenaline junkies and general fun seekers extraordinaire in the New York City (or nearby) area who enjoy leisurely hikes, spontaneous adventures, and the occasional quirky event in and around our great city and venturing beyond in Hudson Valley, Long Island and New Jersey.
In this group we firmly believe that a great day of adventure doesn’t always require a sweat-drenched shirt. We will aim to host laid-back leisurely hikes and walks and any kind of outdoor activities and build a social network of outdoor enthusiasts who love to being in the outdoors and enjoying scenic views, BUT prefer to do so at a leisurely pace. On our hikes, there will be plenty of stops for refreshments and taking time to catch our breath and taking the time to savor the sights and sounds of nature, take a gazillion selfies on the trails and perhaps even hug some trees along the way. You will be able to connect with nature at your own pace. The pace is yours to set as you blaze a new trail, or get reacquainted with a familiar one, at a leisurely pace, all the while with no fear of being left behind. Average pace for a hike or walk is slower than most of the other Meetup groups out there...there are so many that want to go fast, this is a slower group. If you are a speed demon this isn’t the group for you!
Hike mileage will range from 5 to 8 miles, maybe more maybe less over mostly easy to moderate terrain. Occasionally we’ll strive to do harder hikes just to challenge ourselves but the pace will still be SLOW LEISURELY.
Whether you are a beginner hiker or an experienced outdoor enthusiast, with a love for exploring the great outdoors, nature, picturesque views, and good company at a relaxed leisurely pace, we welcome you to our tribe. Let’s walk, hike, talk and discover beautiful trails together while making new friends and creating unforgettable trail memories together.
In addition to outdoor events, we’ll also do indoor social events, such as dining out, museums, Broadway shows, happy hour, etc.
Our activities are not limited to just the NYC area, but are and can be located all over the map… north to Hudson Valley and east to Long Island, over the river to New Jersey, all reachable by public transportation via Metro-North, Long Island Railroad, New Jersey Transit and Amtrak, as well as MTA bus and subway.
