Meet & Greet, Explore TCGA Data and Python Toolkit

Hey Everyone,

Sorry for the delay in getting this Meetup off the ground. I'm announcing our inaugural Meetup, for which I have reserved a super nice room in Columbia's new teaching & learning center. For anyone who isn't a Columbia affiliate I'll need a finalized guest list that I can leave with the security desk of the building. I need to finalize the guest list by ~72 hours before the event so please be diligent about RSVP.

There will be food and drink provided, and after we all get to know each other we'll hear a presentation on an amazing new public data initiative called The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). I'll introduce some foundational data mining tools from the Python ecosystem and propose interesting directions for modeling specifically head & neck cancer data. Bring laptops, as there will be a git repo with some cleaned-up data sets for us to collaboratively hack on!
