Analyzing Usage Patterns of NYC Open Data: Data Science Perspectives & Apps

Details

Join us Tuesday, May 2nd to hear from Paul Trowbridge, Metis instructor of the upcoming Statistical Foundations for Data Science and Machine Learning (https://www.thisismetis.com/statistical-foundations) course.

In this demonstration, we'll explore how current data science techniques can be applied to understand usage patterns of NYC Open Data datasets. We'll look at the nuts-and-bolts "under the hood" of programatic API calls, and manipulation of JSON objects within R, the statistical analysis of the data, and finally, presentation and communication of the results via interactive web-based graphics. The demonstration will cover many topics relevant to data science and show how data science techniques can be applied to gain insight into real-world problems.

Event Schedule:
6:30 - 7:00: Guests arrive, enjoy food, drinks, and networking
7:00 - 7:45: Paul presents, followed by Q&A
8:00: Event ends
