Looking to make the switch from academia to data science but not sure where to start? Join us to learn more about one Metis instructor's journey and how you, too, can evolve your career in this "Ask Me Anything."

Kimberly Fessel is a bootcamp instructor at Metis's New York campus. Prior to joining the Metis team, she worked in digital advertising where she used natural language processing techniques to help clients better understand and enhance communication with their customers.

Kimberly made the transition to data science following her role as a postdoctoral fellow at the Ohio State University. She holds a Ph.D. in applied mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where she studied the nonlinear fluid-solid dynamics of the cochlea. She strongly believes that skills learned as an academic help strengthen careers in data science, including research experience, communication ability, as well as drive and determination.
