About us

Reimagining Ancient Wisdom for the Modern City. 🏙️✨
NYC Gnostics is a community of seekers, skeptics, and spiritual explorers gathering to pursue enlightenment. We aren’t a church, and we aren’t here to give you a dogma. Instead, we are a non-hierarchical collective dedicated to exploring Gnosticism and alternative spirituality through a 21st-century lens. We meet regularly in informal settings to participate in community of others who are pursing the same.

Who We Are
We believe that Gnosis (direct, experiential knowledge of the divine) shouldn't be locked behind a pulpit or a paywall. Our group is:

  • Leaderless but Guided: We have facilitators to keep the conversation flowing, but no "gurus" or hierarchies. Everyone’s voice carries weight.
  • Radically Inclusive: We are a fully LGBTQ+ affirming space. Whether you are religious, atheist, or "it's complicated," you are welcome here.
  • Casual & Accessible: No incense or altars—just coffee and conversation. We meet regularly in coffee shops across NYC.

What We Do
What would Gnosticism look like if it were founded today, right here in New York? We explore that by:

  • Continuously explore enlightenment within ourselves and others
  • Meet regularly at coffee shops and other informal locations to participate in community
  • Discussing ancient texts alongside modern philosophy.
  • Sharing personal spiritual practices without judgment.
  • Building a community that values individual sovereignty and collective support.

Our Ground Rules

  1. Respect the Path: We honor all religions and spiritual backgrounds.
  2. No Dogma: We trade "thou shalts" for "what ifs."

Whether you’re a lifelong student of the Nag Hammadi Library or just someone looking for deep conversation over a latte, there’s a seat at the table for you.
