What we’re about
The NYC Guitar School Meetup of Guitar Awesomeness brings together New York City musicians in positive, fun events that connect with you with other music-loving humans!
Do you love guitar? Do you love singing? Do you dream of playing in a rock band? Just want to try something new and meet awesome people?
This meetup is where you can get started with playing guitar, get started with performing, or dive into advanced guitar topics with other guitar loving New Yorkers.
We have cool online and in-person events for all levels! And of course the heart of our meetup is the Open Mic for Beginners, where less experienced performers get the chance to practice and polish their cover or original song at home, and then perform in a supportive small online group, with warm and encouraging feedback, and socializing.
Some of our events are free...but there is a small charge for some of them, like the Open Mic for Beginners ($5). We also have an amazing monthly class membership, where you can take a ton of live online classes. You can try one month for $59 and for being in this Meetup group...you can try one class for free!

One Day Song Lab - Learn, Jam, Connect! (Feat. "Back On The Chain Gang")
NYC Guitar School Midtown, 251 W 30th St 7th floor, New York, NY 10001, New York, NY, NY, USNo pressure. No perfection. Just the joy of making music together. Sing, play—or both!
In this fun and welcoming 3-hour workshop, you’ll learn and rehearse "Back on the Chain Gang" by The Pretenders, then bring it to life with a group of fellow guitarists and singers. You’ll start by learning your part in a supportive small-group session—rhythm guitar, lead guitar, or vocals—then rehearse together and finish with a connected, confidence-boosting group performance.
All levels welcome!
Workshop Tuition: Only $75
Annual & Rock Band Members: $35 (Note: Song Labs are special extended workshops with performance and coaching—outside the scope of regular 1-hour drop-in classes.)***
What to expect:
- A welcoming community of music lovers and players of all levels.
- An expert and supportive coach to guide you.
- A fun, low pressure group performance on stage at our Midtown Studio Lounge - friends and family welcome!
