I think that since the inception of this group, I may have been guilty of committing a crime under the N.Y State penal code by asking Meetup members and prospective Meetup members to actually read the description of the event carefully before you RSVP and to take your RSVP seriously.

When you RSVP it means you PLAN to go, it does NOT mean you have to go. I just ask that all attendees be considerate with respect to the RSVP process.

The wait list for this group does NOT operate in a conventional way. Those on the wait list will NOT be moved to the going list automatically.
IF APPLICABLE, ALWAYS JOIN THE WAIT LIST WITH LOW PRIORITY WHICH IS FREE. There is NEVER a need to pay extra to use Meetup's High Priority wait list classification for this group.

We are looking to add a number of First Timers to this event. However, you actually need to read the description of the event carefully.

Meetup charges an Organizer like me to run the group-it's not a fortune- but the amount was raised substantially and I spend much time and effort planning and preparing for an event. You can contribute whatever you want at the BEGINNING of an event in cash. (On many events, I will NOT accept any monetary contributions).

Join us on an approximately 7 mile fast paced hiking tour as we wind our way thru Greenpoint, Brooklyn and then visit the Long Island City Waterfront in Queens. Both the starting and finishing locations should be easily accessible by public transportation.

Greenpoint is an interesting mix of old and new that may have some "hipster" appeal but since I am NOT a "hipster", I don't know if that is true. We'll cross over the Pulaski Bridge to Long Island City - a place we have visited a number of times in the past- where we will visit two waterfront parks: Gantry State Park and Hunter’s Point South-a NYC park. There is a relatively new addition to Hunter’s Point South. Although that extension is a very small one- it’s spectacular. I don't think you will see a better designed small park anywhere! As mentioned above, I am going to request that everyone who attends this event make a monetary contribution but the amount of that donation is entirely up to you. Meetup charges an Organizer like me relatively little each month but I spend much time and effort planning and preparing for an event. You can contribute whatever you want at the BEGINNING of an event. WE START NEAR PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. AND AT THE END OF THE EVENT, WE WILL BE AT A SUBWAY STATION WITH CONNECTIONS TO THE #7 TRAIN, THE G AND THE E TRAIN.

I am going to ask that people not post any comments or questions prior to the event. You have more than enough information to do this once you get the meeting details. No offense, but I don’t need to know-and neither does anyone else- what you are doing that day if you can’t make it or what you think the weather will be. These comments are really annoying.
