What is a Hackathon?

A hackathon is an event organized by the community. It is a conference workshop versus casual meetup event. During the day, developers programming in small teams and follow up with presentations (see format below). In the evening it's time to go to drink a beer with the other participants and, particularly, make lots of friends and have fun!

The purpose of a hackathon is to just take a step back and resolve the problems that we suffer from on regular days, but we usually fix it with a few dirty fixes or until a less busy day (All which is: never).

Magento Hackathons

The first Magento hackathon took place in March 2012 in Germany, and in early 2014 we even have had an online hackathon spanning 8 countries. This will be the first Magento Hackathon in NYC!

Who should attend the hackathon?

Anyone with extensive PHP knowledge and some Magento experience is welcome. It is important to have these requirements so that you can have a meaningful experience at the hackathon and can really contribute something. What do you need to bring?
Your laptop with a clean version of Magento 1.8 installed.
A github account
Ideas for projects to present for hacking

The hackathon host will be Luis Colon from Alexander Interactive and it is supported by interactiv4 and Meet Magento NY.

Sept 21 - Day 1 - Pre Meet Magento NY At the Bitcoin Center

10:30am to 12:00pm - Gathering projects and form teams. Start programming. Code, code and more code

12:00pm to 1:00pm - Lunch - Sandwiches and Salad

5:00pm to 6:00pm - Pizza and / or something with code -)

6:00pm - Project status

9:00 - Close / Beer time!

Sept 22 - Day 2 - Meet Magento NY at Digital Sandbox Conference Center

9:00am - 11:00am Final Project Presentations and Voting
