Join us on our first of three Fall Colors Upstate Photowalks.

I’m thinking the clues are telling us it will be an early Autumn so it's time to get some country air with a trip to Poughkeepsie and it’s two Hudson River Bridges.

Saturday, October 18th. Meet at the Clock in Grand Central Station

This will be an early start due to the length of the train ride.
8:15 am for 8:56 train departure on Metro North Hudson River Line

Train Ticket Prices
One way Trip Off-Peak $20
One way Trip Senior/Disabled/Medicare $13.50

After a pleasant train ride (two hours and ten minutes) along the banks of the Hudson River, we will arrive at Poughkeepsie at approximately 10:56 am. Folks driving to this meetup should meet us here at the train station. After a short bathroom break at the train station, we will walk a short distance to arrive at the entrance to the "Walkway Across The Hudson" and cross the beautiful Hudson River high above the water on this exciting old railroad Trestle Bridge which is now a very popular park.

As we cross we can admire the beauty of the fall colors on the hills around on both sides of the river and the grand scenic views over the town, the river and the surrounding areas.

Once on the far side, we'll walk on a rustic riverside road along the shore of the Hudson to the "Franklin D. Roosevelt Mid-Hudson Bridge." Once there, we'll slip down underneath the bridge to find the entrance to a secret woodland trail. We have arrived at the Franny Reese State Park and will follow the trail a short ways past the ruins of an old house and a viewpoint high above the bridge and the Hudson River. Finally, we wind back down through the woods to the road bridge and cross back over to the town.

Finally, after snacks and beverages in town at a popular Irish Bar & Restaurant, it's time to cross the road back to the station for the return trip to New York City.

We will probably leave Poughkeepsie around 5:00-6:00 pm and be back in the city around 8:00 pm

This walk is approximately eight miles in total.

I hope to see many of you there for this fun and healthy Photo-walk.

Please be on time! The NYC Subway System is a hellscape of unimaginable delays that will wreak havoc on your mind, body, schedule, and soul. Plan your trip with some extra time! Check the MTA app for subway train changes before leaving home. Metro North trains do not wait for people and at this time of year tend to fill up and have standing room only so it pays to board the train as soon as possible.

Dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy walking shoes.
Pack whatever gear you need. We suggest you also bring water & snacks. Don’t forget your charged batteries and empty memory cards. Tripods are not really needed for this outing and I recommend that you try to travel light.

Details of this event may be added or changed at any time, so please check in periodically on this page.
We will not be constantly checking our phones for messages once the meetup begins. If you have questions, please do not send private messages. Please leave them in the Event Chat. Note that questions and comments will likely not be answered after the meetup start time.
