Cold Spring 2025, A Fall Upstate Photo Walk
Details
Lets enjoy some fall color with a walk in the woods on our second and shortest of three Fall Colors Upstate Photo Walks.
Saturday October 25th We'll meet up at Grand Central Station by the Clock/info booth at 10:00 am and catch the Hudson Line train at 10:31 am
Off-Peak one way train ticket $15.25
Senior/Disabled $10.25
Buy your ticket at the station ticket machines, ticket office or through the TrainTime app. If you plan on driving to Cold Spring, meet us on the platform at the train station in Cold Spring. The platform is important as we will exit onto the trail at the far end away from the town. Please use Google Maps to find the nearest parking lots.
A picturesque trip by the Hudson River on a Metro-North train to the Hudson-Valley village of Cold Spring and a pleasant hike through the fall foliage in the nearby woodlands. This year, again, we'll take the shorter trail by the old West Point Canon Foundry.
We will arrive in Cold Spring at 11:56 am and make our way towards the woodland trails directly from the station platform. After exploring the trail and the various remnants of the canon foundry we'll pop out of the woods at the top of the village for a walk down to Main Street past some lovely mansions and, perhaps, find a bite to eat before heading back to the train.
"Cold Spring is a village located in the Hudson Highlands and sits at the deepest point of the Hudson River, directly across from West Point. The central area of the village is on the National Register of Historic Places due to the many well-preserved 19th century buildings, constructed to accommodate workers at the nearby West Point Foundry"

Please be on time! The NYC Subway System is a hellscape of unimaginable delays that will wreak havoc on your mind, body, schedule, and soul. Plan your trip with some extra time! Check the MTA app for subway train changes before leaving home. Metro North trains do not wait for people and at this time of year tend to fill up and have standing room only so it pays to board the train as soon as possible.
Dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy walking shoes.
We will not be constantly checking our phones for messages once the meetup begins. Please do not send private meetup messages. Leave all your questions and comments on this event page before the meetup begins.
Pack whatever gear you need. We suggest you also bring water & snacks, however, this is not a very long walk. Don’t forget your charged batteries and empty memory cards. Tripods would be overkill on this walk.
Details of this event may be added or changed at any time, so please check in periodically on this page. Cellular phone numbers are private and will not be provided. If you have questions, please leave them in the comments below before the event begins.
