An Afternoon in Prospect Park
Details
Our Meetup hasn’t visited Prospect Park in Brooklyn since 2015 so I believe it’s time to take a stroll again around this beautiful park.
Prospect Park isn’t just a park—it’s Brooklyn’s backyard. Designed by Olmsted and Vaux, the same landscape legends behind Central Park, this 526-acre green giant is where the borough comes to breathe, play, and reset. You’ve got it all here: wide-open fields like the Long Meadow for naps, frisbees, and weekend hangs; a 60-acre lake for paddle boating and peaceful views; and Brooklyn’s only forest if you’re in the mood to wander and escape the city noise.
Date: Saturday June 27th Time: 1:00 pm
We will be meeting under the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Arch at the Grand Army Plaza at 1 pm sharp! The closest subway stations are:
2, 3, 4 @ Grand Army Plaza
B, Q, @ 7th Avenue
2, 3, 4 @ Eastern Parkway - Brooklyn Museum
We can enjoy most that this park has to offer on a nice long wander around woodlands and the lake, take photos of whatever catches our inspiration and finally leave the park at Bartel-Pritchard Square where we can hopefully find snacks and beverages perhaps at the Double Windsor, a well reviewed funky beer and burger bar. There is a subway station also at this location with the F and G trains to get back to Manhattan.
Any and all cameras from professional models to cell phones are welcome at our events. Folks at all levels of expertise are also welcome. General purpose zoom lenses are suggested but longer lenses and macro lenses might also be useful.
Please be on time! The NYC Subway System is a hellscape of unimaginable delays that will wreak havoc on your mind, body, schedule, and soul. Plan your trip with some extra time! The “MyMTA” app is highly recommended on weekends.
- Charge your batteries and format your memory cards. Check that both are in your cameras.
- Get your gear ready. Make sure your lenses are clean. Pack your batteries, memory cards, camera, and whatever else you need. (Water is always a good idea!)
Details of this event may be added or changed at any time, so please check in periodically on this page. Cellular phone numbers are private and will not be provided. If you have questions, please leave them in the comments below BEFORE the event begins. It is difficult to monitor the phone after we start shooting.
