A Leisurely Exploratory Ramapo Ramble

Let's get up, get outside and take a leisurely exploratory hike at Ramapo Valley County Reservation, reachable on NJ Transit to Mahwah, NJ and then Uber over.

Hike Overview: The Vista Look Trail is a relatively recently blazed trail that hits the main attractions in Ramapo Valley County Reservation including multiple panoramic vistas, a reservoir, grove of cactus, and waterfall.

About the Vista Loop Trail: The trail was blazed in the summer of 2016 by volunteers of the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference and incorporates portions of existing trails, as well as several newly blazed sections. The NY-NJ Trail Conference presented a webinar, Old Trails, New Systems Re-imagining Existing Trail Networks, that explained how this “new” loop was created.

GETTING THERE: NJ Transit out of NY's Penn Station

Train group: once arrived in Mahwah we’ll share uber to the park

HIKE INTENSITY: easy peasy to moderate.

PACE: LEISURELY AND NO ONE WILL BE LEFT BEHIND.

THE IMPORTANT STUFF:

• Dress in non-cotton layers.
• Wear appropriate shoes suitable for hiking
• Bring at least 3 liters of liquid to stay hydrated.
• Bring lunch and snacks for yourself.
• Bring a sense of adventure and a positive attitude. A smile also goes a long way. Please leave the drama and crankiness at home.

DURATION: I cannot guarantee finishing time but hope to be done by 3pm-ish
