A Leisurely Hike to Pick Anthony’s Nose

Details
come join us as we experience the beauty of the Hudson Valley with a LEISURELY Short But Sweet hike up to ANTHONY'S NOSE, followed by an OPTIONAL walk across the Bear Mountain Bridge into Bear Mountain State Park.
About Anthony's Nose: This is a rugged ridge in the Hudson Highlands near Cortlandt Manor. A steep, 500-foot rock staircase takes you up the first section of the 2.6-mile hike, then a relatively flat trail leads to an overlook with views of the Hudson River and Bear Mountain Bridge.
GETTING THERE: In the morning, we'll meet at GRAND CENTRAL to take the 7:55AM Metro-North to MANITOU. I know it’s early but the Nose does get very annoyingly crowded later on
AGENDA: Once we get to Manitou, we'll walk on paved road (AKA Route 9D) about 1.5 miles to the Anthony's Nose trailhead. The trail starts out with some simple scrambling but flattens out as you reach the top. At the top there are some spectacular views of Bear Mountain vicinity. We'll have lunch at the top before making our way back down.
Thereafter, once we come back down, those who do not wish to continue on to the Bridge can make your own way back to Manitou station. Check MTA schedule for train from Manitou back to NYC. https://new.mta.info/schedules?tab=mnr
Those who wish to continue, we'll then make our way to the Bear Mountain Bridge - don't forget your cameras the views from the bridge is simply spectacular!
Crossing the Bear Mountain Bridge will then take us into Bear Mountain State Park. We'll do some explorin' around the park before heading home.
From right outside Bear Mountain Inn, there is a 5:19PM Shortline (Coach USA) Bus back to PORT AUTHORITY BUS TERMINAL. One-way bus fare is $14.35 payable to the bus driver IN CASH ONLY.
If you don’t want to take the bus, you can uber to Peekskill station where trains leave every hour back to Grand Central
PLEASE NOTE, day's agenda is not written in stone and is subject to changes. Come with an open mind for adventure and flexibility for whatever the day might bring.
HIKE INTENSITY: Easy to Moderate. Hike starts out walking on paved roads, followed by a short scrambling to reach the top of Anthony's Nose, followed by an easy breezy bridge crossing.
