What we’re about
This group is for women - please have a clear face photo when requesting to join our group!
NYC Women in STEM is a community founded by a few women who recognized the need for female academics and professionals in male-dominated fields. We are focused on creating a safe space where we can strengthen our network, share experiences and knowledge, and receive support as we navigate our roles.
As an organization, we are also passionate about advancing gender equity in our disciplines, and fostering conversations around interdisciplinary learning. Learn more about us here.
You can find our official events on our meetup and website, whereas informal meet-ups will be posted in our WhatsApp group, which is reserved for members that have attended at least one event.
We hope to see you at our next event!
Please consider contributing to our yearly meetup fees, web hosting costs, or pizza at our next event!

Our Mathematical Universe by Max Tegmark
Our Mathematical Universe is a journey to explore the mysteries uncovered by cosmology and to discover the nature of reality. Our Big Bang, our distant future, parallel worlds, the sub-atomic and intergalactic - none of them are what they seem. But there is a way to understand this immense strangeness - mathematics. Seeking an answer to the fundamental puzzle of why our universe seems so mathematical, Tegmark proposes a radical idea: that our physical world not only is described by mathematics, but that it is mathematics. This may offer answers to our deepest questions: How large is reality? What is everything made of? Why is our universe the way it is? (source)

What is the $5 fee for?
For over two years, we've been organizing free events for all members, and we're grateful for your active participation. The $5 fee helps us continue what we do—bringing incredible women together and sparking meaningful connections. These funds cover essential costs like the Meetup organizer fee ($130/year) and website maintenance. Any extra contributions will go toward our annual NYC Women in STEM Networking Event.
Sincerely,
Jenny & Daniela4 attendees
