For 78 years Albany has created a sea of more than 100,000 tulips at Albany's historic Washington Park. Their festival is this Mother's Day weekend, but many of us want to spend time with their mother. I'm sure that the tulips will be there on Monday, so I thought we would do a trip to Albany to view theml. It is often recognized as the largest tulip festival in the Northeast and the largest in New York State.
It is going to be at Washington Park was designed by John Bogart & John Cutler in 1870. It was designed in an Olmstedian style incorporating principles from Central Park. Bogart had worked with both Olmstead and Vaux. It is 80 acres. We can then visit the Capitol or walk around the capitol area. The Hudson River Way is a pedestrian bridge, which acts an outdoor museum and the Albany Skyway, a linear park transformed from a highway ramp. Unfortunately, most of the museums are closed on Monday. We should be able to buy the tickets at Port Authority Trailways, but the bus may leave from 33rd Street. I'll post a comment if there are any changes.
