DON'T BE LATE: THE FERRY LEAVES AT 4 PM
The Stapleton Heights Historic District is the oldest collection of elegant, richly creative wooden mansions in New York City. We'll take a short bus ride there from the S.I. ferry terminal. (The boat ride itself is a beautiful, serene treat.) After viewing the mansions we'll Walk for about 15 minutes to Lakruwana, a Sri Lankan restaurant decorated with enough traditional art and artifacts to resemble a museum. It's in the Michelin guide and is among the New York Times's top 100 restaurants. Yet its great, unusual, All you can eat buffet costs only $21.95 plus tax. After dining, we'll walk or take a bus back to the terminal.:
DISTANCE: About 1.5 to 3 miles, depending on whether you walk or take a bus back to the terminal
