Fabulous art (and warmth) at the Met Museum!
Details
LATECOMERS CAN MEET US IN THE MAN RAY EXHIBIT NEAR ANCIENT GREECE ON FIRST FLOOR, THEN THE ROCKEFELLER WING NEARBY.
Join us at the beautiful and cozy Met museum, where we will view the following exciting exhibitions:
* When objects dream: the surreal photographs of Man, Ray, which I hear are magical.
*The newly reopened Rockefeller collection of African and Pacific island art, much of it astonishing
* Divine Egypt: elegant and fascinating portrayals of the mythical gods.
* Seeing silence: The early 20th century paintings of Finnish artist Helene Schjerfbeck, finally receiving long overdue recognition.
* The serene watercolors of Emily Sargent, overlooked sister of famous painter John Singer Sargent
* The breathtaking Christmas tree
* And more if time permits.
LUNCH: In the Met Cafeteria at approximately 2:15. Bring your own food (although the guards occasionally don't allow that) or buy it there.
COST: Pay what you wish for NY state residents; others pay $30 or $22 for seniors. Plus $1 for me to help cover the annual $360 meetup organizer fee.
