In Search of Blossoming Cherry Trees in Central Park

This is going to be the third event of this new group.

This group is separate from my much larger group-New York City Hiking Tours.

Please actually read the description of the event carefully BEFORE you RSVP. I ask all members to take their RSVP seriously. That does NOT mean you have to go it just means you PLAN to and you have read everything I asked you to. NO GUESTS UNLESS I KNOW YOU AND YOUR GUESTS MUST BE REGISTERED. (One way to address this is to have your guest join the group and RSVP.)

Please also read "About" or "About This Group " in the left side of Meetup Home Page for this group in either your computer/laptop or cell. See if you are comfortable with how we do things. ( I realize that when I ask people to take their RSVP seriously in Meetup that may be a crime under New York State criminal law but I will take that chance!)

When you sign up for your first event, IF YOU DO NOT KNOW ME WHETHER YOU ARE ON A WAIT LIST OR NOT, I require that you send me your personal e-mail to my e-mail address which is bsb2@att.net Some folks in Meetup do not get meetup messages or look at the messages that are actually sent to them. I ask for your e-mail address so it can help me more effectively communicate with members. If you don't do this, unfortunately I am going to remove you to the Not Going list because it is clear you didn't read the description of the event. I am NOT asking for that much.

In the event there is a waitlist, The wait list for this group does NOT operate in a conventional way. Those on the wait list will not be moved to the going list automatically.
IF APPLICABLE, ALWAYS JOIN THE WAIT LIST WITH LOW PRIORITY WHICH IS FREE. IF THERE IS A WAITLIST, IT APPEARS MEETUP WILL ASK YOU IF YOU WANT TO JOIN MEETUP + BUT IN SMALLER LETTERS AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE YOU CAN CLICK CONTINUE WITH THE FREE PLAN. There is NEVER a need to pay extra to use Meetup's High Priority wait list classification for this group.

A few days before the event I will send a message to those attendees who I do not know asking for their help and cooperation as I plan the event. A response to that message is required.

I was planning to visit the Park to see a yoshino cherry tree I have a special attachment to-see event photo- AND I figure it might be a good idea to see where some other trees are blooming. Ann Marie the Organizer of Central Park NYC Ever Walk Meetup group gave me the inspiration.

We will journey around Central Park in search of blooming cherry trees and other trees I don't even know the name of. If we have time, we will journey to the northern part of the Park where there are waterfalls.

Although I have led tours of Central Park for the Guides Association of New York City, this will NOT be a tour. I'll provide a minimum amount of commentary but it will be a fun and relatively fast paced short hike of about 3-4 miles depending on how far we get.

We may finish before 1 p.m or after but it doesn't matter because you can leave any time.

We are going to start in the lower/mid part of the Park and probably finish mid park. It will be easy to get there and back using public transportation. There are always restroom stops on any event I lead but there are no food stops on this event. Please just bring snacks and water.

I won't accept any money on this event no matter how strong your desire might be to donate. This will be fun for me.

ALSO PERIODICALLY CHECK YOUR MESSAGES LINK ON THE TOP RIGHT OF THE WEBSITE. YOU CAN CHOOSE WHICH MEETUP GROUPS YOU WANT TO RECEIVE MESSAGES FROM.

I am going to ask that people NOT post any comments or questions prior to the event. You have more than enough information to do this once you get the meeting details. No offense, but I don’t need to know-and probably neither does anyone else- what you are doing that day if you can’t make it or what you think the weather will be. You may even think you have some deep insight into something or other. Please keep that deepness to yourself. AFTER the event, post as many comments and photos as you like. PLEASE RESPECT MY WISHES ON THIS.

If the weather forecast is really bad, I will post a notice on the day of the hike by 7:00 A.M. If there is no notice, we go.
We will finish AROUND 1 P.M somewhere in the park not far from public transportation.
