December NYC Web Design Meetup

Design Review/Critique of

LaundryPuppy ("Your laundry, fetched") is like Seamless, for Dry Cleaning and Wash&Fold. At the touch of a button, users can have the delivery person from the neighborhood cleaner at their door in minutes to grab their stuff. But at its core, the brand is "play and adventure" -- because in making Laundry quick, painless, and oddly wonderful, we believe we can help busy people in cities find more time for the things they actually enjoy.

LaundryPuppy will be launching in the East Village/Stuytown this week, so check it out and be prepared for an engaging and constructive critique of its web design.

We're excited to announce the panel:

Kennedy Thorwarth

Carbone Smolan Agency
Area of expertise: Digital marketing and strategy

Mike Kelly

Hey everyone, my team and I have made great progress on what we consider to be the PornHub of virtual reality. We are now seeking a web developer to join our founding team in order to buildout a way to get our content to GearVR owners and establish a web presence for additional partners and adult studios. This is along the lines of what we want to do

If you are looking for a little excitement and are interested in learning more about our venture please contact us at [masked]

    Hi there,

We are creating a new tool dedicated to designers, called:
Please, could you give me some feedback on it ?

In few words, Illustrio aims at creating a library of SVG that can be edited by final customers.

Type of variables they will be able to customize on your illustrations are: color changes, text input, move & scale elements, rotate, hide elements, etc...

If you have the taste of innovation and wish to discover the future of design, feel free to try it ;)

First of all I thought the presentation needed to have been a lot more efficient and streamlined. It felt like I was going through a practice run of the presentation. Second, the site's branding and messaging needed a lot of work. This was my first meetup, and I was excited to come based on the strength of the panel, and I was hoping to see them 'fine tune' the site. Unfortunately the problems were pretty obvious, and really didnt need the panel of experts. But it was good to hear their comments/approach nonetheless. I like the format, I just wish the projects being presented were more fine tuned, and further along the way.

Completely agree (it certainly could have, and should have, been more streamlined), and genuinely appreciate the feedback around tightening the entire presentation. Needless to say, we learned a ton, and hope the others in the room did too. Since we're still so early on in the development process though, I'd add that the feedback from the panel and audience has an exceptionally high potential to impact where we go (compared to a more established startup). We can't wait to start playing with/testing out many of the ideas ASAP. If you'd like to talk further (and we'd be happy to chat more with anyone in attendance), feel free to drop me a note at [masked]. Thanks again!

Really enjoyed it. Of course, I think everyone always likes more time for networking (but the focused networking aspect was terrific). Great first meetup!

The laundry Puppy link on your site is not working. I went there and clicked on the words, then it didn't do anything or go anywhere. maybe the link is broken

We'll look into it. The focus for tonight though will be on the actual ordering experience (which we haven't released very publicly yet -- you'll all be among the first to see it!) Should be fun!

Hi all, I'm one of the LaundryPuppy guys :) Happy answer any questions or share more about anything LaundryPuppy-related prior to Monday. We're still young, and our design has a ways to go, so we can't wait for your critique!

Hi all! You're 100% correct, the splash page is fairly sparse right now, but luckily, that won't be the focus for tonight. Rather, we'll be giving an inside look into the yet-to-be-publicly launched version of the site where people actually place full orders (although as of now, it's available to folks in the East Village/Stuytown area who are interested!)
