In this connected world we live in, traditional data stores often make it rather difficult to find valuable relationships in your data. By making relationships first class citizens in the data model (and storing your data exactly as you'd whiteboard it), contextualizing a set of data becomes incredibly simple.

In this session, three engineers from Neo4j (http://www.neo4j.com), the world's leading graph database, will walk through what a graph database is, and how it can transform your applications. They'll go over creating, querying, and displaying data, and give you the tools needed to use the graph.

They will also review a demo use-case on Panama Papers and how graph databases were used to identify key names in the biggest leak and the largest cross-border investigation in journalism history with over 2.6 TB of data and 11.5 million documents!

Meet Your Speakers:

Maria Scharin (https://www.linkedin.com/in/mariascharin/) is part of Neo4j’s Engineering team based in Malmö, Sweden. She holds an MSc in Engineering from Lund University, and has an extensive technical background as a developer, Oracle DBA and IT project manager. Her passion lies with communication and beautiful language. She gets a kick out of explaining complicated things in a simple way, which is the perfect match for making Neo4j accessible for all sorts of audiences. Maria is married and has two kids. In her free time, she enjoys long-distance running and yoga, reading, and spending time with her family.

Praveena Fernandes (https://www.linkedin.com/in/praveenafernandes/) is a Software Engineer at Neo4j based out of London, England. She is a passionate developer, and is interested in all things related to programming. She has years of experience working as a Lead Consultant at ThoughtWorks in software delivery and organisation transformation across different business domains. Dr. Petra Selmer (https://www.linkedin.com/in/petra-selmer-61b291/) is a member of Neo4j's Engineering team based out of London, England. More specifically, she is member of the Cypher Language Group, supporting the openCypher project at www.opencypher.org (http://www.opencypher.org/), with the aim of making Cypher the de-facto property graph query language. For many years, she worked as a consultant and developer in a variety of different domains and roles, and has a PhD in Computer Science from Birkbeck, University of London, where she researched flexible querying of graph-structured data.
