Dear Members,

Financial Literacy Month, observed in April was created to teach Americans how to establish and maintain healthy financial habits and to highlight the importance of financial literacy.

The NYC Womens Investment Group is launching a Send your wallet on Vacation challenge by encouraging their members and others to live without money for one week from April 13-April 20th.

The purpose of this challenge is for women to:
Learn to live on less and become more resourceful
Find creative ways to spend their time besides spending money
Recognize how much they spend during a week unconsciously
Face their anxiety about not having money and work on resolving the issues

New research reveals that women are taking more interest and better informed about money and investing more than ever before! Taking control of your finances is a privilege not a punishment. We owe it to ourselves in the same way we take care of our health.

Rules to the Challenge

1. You can not purchase anything during that week. If you have bills that are due that week, please be sure to pay them before the week begins. DO NOT use that week as an excuse to pay your bills late!

2. Be sure to fill up your tank with gas, buy your bus and/or train ticket ahead of time. Go food shopping and buy your toiletries by Sunday, 4/12.

3. Please blog about your experience daily. A website will be provided a week before the challenge begins. If you do not have internet access, please write daily in a journal as this information will be helpful to yourself and other members.

If you would like to participate in the challenge please email me ASAP as we have 15 women signed up already.

Our next meeting will be held on April 24th and the speaker will be Helen Kim. She is a money relationship coach and will discuss how this challenge should help you develop clarity about the way you make money decisions and choices. In addition she will help everyone develop simple money-management technique, dissolve debt issues and create realistic repayement plans and more.

Please look for an email to follow with more information regarding next month's meeting.

Please email me if you have questions.

Now let's all "Send our wallets on vacation"....
