Hail to POTUS 26 Day Trip

Let's head to Long Island and take a hike at Sagamore Hill National Historic Site. We will also visit the museum on-site to learn all about the man, the myth, the legend of POTUS26, Theodore Roosevelt. We'll also visit his gravesite at Youngs Memorial Cemetery located nearby.

NOTE: There are no plans to visit his house Sagamore Hill which costs extra and is so hard to book in advance. We'll just visit the grounds which has easy hiking trails we can explore. The ground is FREE.

Who was POTUS26? Theodore Roosevelt, the scion of a wealthy New York family, went on to become Colonel of the Rough Riders, NYC Police Commissioner, U.S. Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Governor of New York State, Vice President of the U.S. under William McKinley, and after McKinley’s assassination, the 26th President of the U.S. As President, Roosevelt pushed progressive reforms, such as conservation of public lands and trust busting, and negotiated an end to the war between Russia and Japan, for which he won a Nobel Peace Prize; and his image eventually was immortalized on Mount Rushmore.

Sagamore Hill Historic Site was the home of Theodore Roosevelt, 26th President of the United States, from 1885 until his death in 1919. During Roosevelt's time in office, his "Summer White House" was the focus of international attention. Explore 83 acres of natural surroundings and historic buildings and become inspired by the legacy of one of America's most popular presidents.

GETTING THERE: Pick up LIRR from any LIRR station going to OYSTER BAY station. All LIRR to Oyster Bay connect at Jamaica Station at 8:41AM

• From Penn Station: LIRR train leaves at 8;20AM, TRANSFER AT JAMAICA at 8:41AM and arrive at Oyster Bay at 9:43am.
• From Jamaica Station: LIRR train leaves at 8:41AM and will arrive at Oyster Bay station at 9:43am.

AGENDA: Once we all arrive at Oyster Bay station, we'll share a 5-min Uber ride to Sagamore Hill.
