There are lots of books on this topic; one of my favorite is: The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman. book review by Slate (http://www.slate.com/articles/arts/books/2015/01/the_christian_self_help_series_the_five_love_languages_reviewed.html). It talks about how people tend to view love in 5 different ways, and there is misunderstanding and miscommunication especially when people perceive love differently (ie. gifts versus physical affection).

On my to-read list is Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari

If you're not able to read a book, perhaps reading advice columns by dear abby or carolyn hax will provide some interesting conversation material...
