The world of cloud and application development is not just for the hardened developer these days. In this discussion we will pull back the curtain of the architecture of a fun demo application purpose built for the cloud. We will focus on demonstrating how we leveraged compute, storage, messaging, and other cloud elements hosted at SoftLayer to lower the effort and difficulty of putting together a useful application. This will be an active demonstration and review of simple command line tools and resources, so don’t be afraid if you may not be a seasoned developer.

About Phil Jackson
Phil is the Development Community Advocate for SoftLayer, an IBM Company. He helps customers and partners integrate with SoftLayer’s API. He also architects the company’s Drupal websites, writes API documentation, and maintains the developer blog. Formerly, he was a Sales Engineer building internal tools and providing technical consultation for potential and existing customers. Jackson started his career in webhosting at Ev1Servers where he led the training department. With a passion for technology that started at a young age, he has developed skills in a variety of scripting and programming languages and enjoys sharing his knowledge with the tech community.
