Welcome to the NYC Depression Group Meetup. This is a group of like-minded, respectful individuals who are suffering from depression and anxiety.

**We will start the meeting by going over some basic rules** to be sure everyone is respectful and mindful of everyone's time and dedication to showing up. This is a peer-led group of like-minded individuals.

**The format is that everyone in the event will have a quick 3-5 minute opportunity to introduce themselves uninterrupted** and bring up any mental health related topics they need to address later on in the session.

**If you feel uncomfortable speaking, you can write in the text chat** feature and we can dictate them to the group on your behalf. If you wish to just listen for awhile, that is okay too. Please let us know.

**After the introductions, we will engage in a group discussion** perhaps from what we heard or if anyone needs to discuss further detail from their intro or anything regarding mental health.

**We do use the "hand raise" feature in Zoom so that we can queue you in so that you have the opportunity to speak.**

Here are the basic rules:

1. **Be kind, respectful, and avoid conflicts.**

2. **If you are in a crisis, please seek professional help immediately:**

3. **Be mindful of other people’s triggers.** Please give a polite warning so others may have an opportunity to leave the room momentarily. **If you are triggered, you may mute the sound and return *but do NOT restrict other people's conversations***
4. **Refrain from judgment and refrain from giving advice in the group**. Instead, just listen or perhaps use the "I" pronoun and share your similar situation.
5. **Try to be on time to honor everyone's time**
6. **Share space with others.** This means letting others have the floor and listening when it's your turn to listen and your turn to speak. Zoom has the "Raise Hand" feature to let the facilitators know. There should be NO interruption during individual introductions.
7. **Performing Research, promoting business and products, discussing politics, religions, and treatments is prohibited**
8. **Make sure your audio is distraction free** and in a safe spot where this is quiet and no others are around. **Mute your mic if this is an issue.**

Treat online meetings as real meetings where we are providing our full attention to what is in front of us and the person speaking. Completely turn off distractions, TVs, flipping through tabs, typing.
