Prof. Tom Pettitt (http://findresearcher.sdu.dk:8080/portal/da/person/pettitt) is a member of the research group that came up with the idea of the “Gutenberg Parenthesis.” It's the notion that our digital/internet revolution heralds not only the end of the print and book era, but also the restoration, at a higher level of technology, of significant characteristics of pre-print communication usually associated with the Middle Ages and folklore. Prof. Pettitt will juxtapose Media Studies and Mediaeval Studies, and discuss possible lessons of the pre-print past for the post-print future of news media and journalism.
