In this event, two entrepreneurial journalism creators will talk about their experiences developing new projects and learning how to do so. Hosted by the Journalism Creators Program at CUNY's Newmark Graduate School of Journalism.

Presenters include:

Natalie Madeira Cofield, who participated in the 2018 Tow-Knight Entrepreneurial Journalism program at the Newmark J-School, has provided some of the nation's most prominent CEOs of billion-dollar organizations, executives of global brands, senior advisors to the White House, mayors of leading national cities, and community activists and leaders with inspiration, insight and advisement.

She was named by Entrepreneur Magazine as one of the 100 Most Powerful Women in Business in 2019 and selected among 137 cover-story business leaders and entrepreneurs from across the nation for her response to COVID-19 in the magazine’s most recent Entrepreneur Magazine July/August 2020 edition cover. A sought-after expert, Natalie's work has been featured on and by CNN, NYTimes, Fast Company, Forbes, Entrepreneur, Business Insider, Black Enterprise, Essence, and EBONY, among others.

Betsy Ladyzhets, who is participating in the pilot Journalism Creators Program at the Newmark J-School, has been immersed in the COVID-19 data world since March. She’s the manager of the Science & Health vertical at Stacker and a data entry volunteer at the COVID Tracking Project, where she works on the core Testing and Outcomes dataset and the COVID Racial Data Tracker. Her past work has also appeared in Science News and The Open Notebook. She graduated from Barnard College in 2019 with a dual degree in Biology and English (and way too many blog posts.)
