PowerShell Runbooks in Azure Automation Accounts - Aaron Nelson

Details

Abstract

What’s so great about PowerShell Runbooks? Well, it’s basically a PowerShell script that lives in Azure that you can run on a schedule, or trigger via a Webhook. Ever have a problem that you just needed a short-term fix for? Or maybe you need a long-term fix, but the fix is so simple that you just need to get it tested & deployed as quickly as possible?
I would like to show you 3 ways I use PowerShell in Azure Automation accounts

  1. To grab an inventory of my Azure Data Factory assets
  2. To kick off a small task via a Webhook
  3. To collect very specific Azure metrics that are not as easy to collect with Log Analytics or other solutions
We’ll go through these scenarios, and I’ll walk you through how to avoid a few small hurdles I had to overcome to get everything working smoothly.
