Drinks then Disability Arts Event at the Whitney Museum

Details
Since our last event was successful, we’re striking while the iron is hot! We’ve decided to meet for drinks at the Brass Monkey around 5 PM Saturday October 28th. We will then head to a disability event at the Whitney Museum of American Art at 6:30 PM. They are both in the Meat Packing District. Currently, the DANT event at the Whitney is sold out but there is a waiting list available. In any case, we hope you’ll join us at the Brass Monkey. The Brass Monkey serves unique drinks, has cool music and good food options. It has two dollar signs on Yelp. Link to the Yelp page is below.

The event at the Whitney is organized by the Disability Arts NYC Taskforce otherwise known as DANT. The name of the event is an Etiology of Ommission: Disability In and Out of Protest Art. Below is a little blurb about it.
This program explores disability as a political and aesthetic category in artists’ reckoning with the most pressing issues of their day. Disability is rarely articulated as its own category in exhibitions of protest art, yet it is often an unacknowledged presence in the work. Our focus here will be on charting an etiology of the omission of disability - its political, historical, and curatorial roots – and outlining a more complete picture. The Disability/Arts/NYC Task Force (DANT) presents Riva Lehrer, Lawrence Carter Long, Kevin Gotkin & Simi Linton.
The event at the Whitney is from 7 to 9 PM. The event has sold out but you can register for the waiting list using the link below. The Whitney museum’s Address and phone number are below.

Both the Brass Monkey and the Whitney Museum have accessible entrances. The Whitney Museum has accessible bathrooms. The accessible bathroom at the Brass Monkey is currently out of order and they do prepare their food using latex gloves. We will do our best to pick a more accessible venue next time. The closest accessible train station is the 14th street and 8th avenue stop on the A, C, E and L trains. Use the link below to check elevator status.
