Rockaway Hackathon on Saturday for National Day of Civic Hacking

Hey Pythonistas,

This weekend is the National Day of Civic Hacking, and there are a few events in the city, but the one I want to call your attention to is out in Rockaway.

The Rockaways were hit pretty hard by Sandy last year, and so the major themes of the event are disaster preparedness and recovery, especially communication in an emergency and rebuilding. There are a lot of opportunities to do a lot of good for a community like Rockaway.

There will be engineers from the City, foursquare, Intel, and some others on hand to help out with data and APIs.

Because we know it's a bit of a trek, there's a bus to and from the event, leaving from the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn.

Shoot me any questions, I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Here are the eventbrite's (it's free, obviously) for the hackathon and the bus:

Hope to see some of you there!
