Overcoming Implicit Bias in Recruiting

Details

A serious problem facing recruiters and companies is not so obvious. While overt racism is easier to identify, a serious problem is implicit bias – soft prejudices that we all have, but of which we are basically unaware. This lack of awareness can deeply impact your professional and personal life as well as the way you unintentionally communicate and think. This thought-provoking workshop will take a deep dive into the subject, where you will confront your own biases and see how you – regardless of race, status, income or education –- have been a victim of unconscious bias.

Jennefer Witter is the chief executive officer and founder of The Boreland Group Inc. (TBG – www.theborelandgroup.com), a 18 year old boutique public relations firm headquartered in New York City. The agency specializes corporate communications, with a focus on women-led and minority owned businesses and non-profits. Jennefer is an active public speaker, with presentations to military, trade and academic venues on regional, national and global platforms, on unconscious bias; gender-based workplace conversation; and public relations, communication and professional growth topics.
