The calendar may tell us that our summer is over, but we will attempt to keep the summer spirit alive with a skate along the Fairfield County shoreline!
Please roll (or bike) with us along the Connecticut shore from Westport, CT to Fairfield, CT!
The route takes us along the waterfront from the Westport train station to the Firehouse Deli in Fairfield for lunch. We can return by the waterfront route or a more direct inland route. Along the way, we will visit Sherwood Island State Park and Fairfield Beach.
The route is approximately 18 to 20 miles.
If there is time and interest, we can spend some time at Compo Beach when we return to Westport. There is a restaurant at the beach and many other restaurants/bars in downtown Westport for food and refreshments if you want to stay a littler longer after we finish the event.
Skaters/Bikers can travel to Westport by the Metro-North Railroad or by car. The 9:02 AM train from Grand Central Station arrives in Westport, CT at 10:18 AM, and the 10:02 AM train arrives at 11:18 AM. The fare is $15.25 each way. Parking is free on Saturday.
There will be at least one car at the railroad station for storage of gear, footwear, beach blankets, frisbees etc.
