Ruby on Rails Meetup
Hosted by Technology + Business + Design
Details
Join us for our Ruby on Rails Meetup on Wednesday, August 21 with George Ogata, Sr. Developer at HowAboutWe.
George is a backend engineer on HowAboutWe's dating platform, and has led several performance optimization efforts over the past year. Previously, he worked at Patch, helping to scale out their local news platform from a handful of towns to a truly national news network. He's been developing Rails apps professionally for over 7 years, and using Ruby for 11.
What will we discuss?
George's talk will cover how Ruby's (specifically MRI's) garbage collector works internally, what the various settings do, and some techniques we used for deducing good settings for our own application.
