"In The Pier it was important to me
to stay honest and show humble
people bravely facing their lives.
I wanted to honor the part of the world
I came from a place which is generally
glossed over by a cloud of vapid cliches
in Hollywood movies." - Gerard Hurley

Gerard (http://appslibrary.com/r/r.cfm?fseid=0&fsetk=0&fseloc=www.imdb.com/name/nm0403441/) will be our Guest
for a Q&A session after the show

THE PIER was made with only a micro budget
of $100,000 Euros (approx. $130,000).
Despite all odds it has had enormous success
at over 30 International Film Festivals.
THE PIER deserves to be seen on the big screen.

The New York Irish Center is contributing
a portion of ticket sales towards the
the Kickstarter (http://appslibrary.com/r/r.cfm?fseid=0&fsetk=0&fseloc=www.kickstarter.com/projects/1610111536/the-pier)* campaign, so why not do your part.

"The Pier tells a common story in Irish
literature and film: the returning emigrant confronts
what has changed and what has remained the same.
The director plays a man who, told his father
is dying, travels from New York to Cork to discover
the old codger looking a little healthier than expected.
An amusing, touching battle of wills then develops.
The picture never comes close to striking a bum note."
Donal Clarke, Irish Times Film Critic
