Anne-Marie Currie and Bertrand Lefebvre from OptumInsight will speak on Enriching Electronic Health Record Data for Oncology Research: Creating Depth at Scale.

Speaker Bios:
Anne-Marie Currie, PhD, is Sr Director of Data Science, Natural Language Processing at Optum. Anne-Marie leads a diverse team of data scientists, data engineers, medical informaticists, and clinical annotators who are delivering innovative and cutting-edge AI and machine learning solutions to the enterprise. Anne-Marie has a PhD in Linguistics and a certificate in Medical Informatics. As a Data Science leader since 1998, she has played key roles in the development of high impact products including cancer registry products for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and Ontario’s ICES Cancer Research Program.

Additionally, Anne-Marie has worked with IMS Health (now IQVIA) and pharma companies on clinical natural language research projects, as well as worked directly with clinical provider organizations on quality measures, population health analytics, and other clinical informatics initiatives. She has developed the core NLP/ML for a clinical documentation improvement product as well as sentiment analysis products for engagement analytics. As a data science leader, she has experience building high performing data science teams and high quality data science programs.

Bertrand Lefebvre, PhD, is Principal Data Scientist and Technical Lead for the natural language processing team at Optum. He joined 5 years ago and has been focusing on information extraction from electronic medical records. Prior to Optum, he has worked at Nuance Communications on natural language understanding for virtual assistants. Bertrand holds a PhD in physics.
