ALL aboard! The reboot, a presentation of MTA's Bus Time & NYC DOT data.

Details

Several years ago, this meetup led the effort to open up the MTA's transit data. Just a few years later, it is as if we are in a different city. Not only has the MTA embraced developers and open data, but they are actively producing real time APIs to get New Yorkers moving on subways and buses.

This reboot of the Open Transportation Meetup will build off of our initial efforts and explore the 21st century’s transportation opportunities.

We will have two presentations:

Mike Frumin, MTA, discussing the MTA’s Bus Time API (http://bustime.mta.info/wiki/Developers/Index). This is a real-time API to track all MTA Buses in NYC.

Neil Freeman, NYC DOT, talking about current and upcoming data sets (http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/about/datafeeds.shtml). Feel free to ask them how to use their data, and make your requests for future data sets.

Afterward, we will have an open mic for a few brief demos. You can use this time to connect with other developers and collaborate on some great projects - we are eager to see what you create! If you want to present, please contact sarahkaufman /at/ nyu /dot/ edu.

ALL ABOARD!
