Open Invite to Sloan Public Service Awards

Sorry to have missed the active phase of this group back in 2009/2010. That said, I wanted to share the following in the hopes that some of you are still around. This announcement has been shared with four of the local geospatial meetups (OSM Enthusiasts, CrisisMappers, NYC GIS & Cartography Second Monday Meetup, Location Based Apps). Jim McConnell, OEM's Commissioner for Strategic Data, is one of the recipients of the prestigious Sloan Public Service Award this year. The public sector gang within the MetroNYC Geospatial Community, especially GISMO, is turning out in force to celebrate with (& for) Jim. Local geospatial mavens of all stripes (academe, non-profit, private) are welcome to join - no RSVP required. See below - the Great Hall at Cooper Union holds a lot of folks>.
