Orient House and Studio Open House

This site features a deep energy retrofit of a wood frame house and new construction of an artist studio. The house features a conventional over insulation strategy, using mineral wool in stead of the more typical board foam. The artist studio has very little south glass and a very high surface to volume ratio. This was approached by making the south wall as a solar collector, through the use of a concrete block wall clad in translucent insulation. Both projects are under construction, so please wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and clothes than you won't mind getting dirty.
