What we’re about

Get Fit Fast just in time for summer by running short sprints twice a week. We'll do 8-12 short sprints at 50-90% effort (your choice!) and in less than 30 minutes we're done and more fit. This is a "judgement free" group - everyone is welcome.

The combination of running semi-hard followed by a walk-back recovery can actually be invigorating, and if you're like me you'll feel energetic and your mind will be clearer for hours afterwards. If you want to feel better overall, lose weight, tone your legs and abs, strengthen your heart and lungs, and even slow or reverse aging, mini-semi-sprints can help get your there fast. They are a great compliment to your existing routine (or the one you've been planning to put together!).

Does it work? Well, per google and the link below: "a 2019 study concluded that high-intensity sprint interval training resulted in a 28.5% higher fat reduction than moderate-intensity continuous training . You can burn up to 500 calories by running 10 x 100-meter sprints, and the entire session will take around twenty minutes, which is perfect to incorporate into a busy schedule." So - YES.

I'm open to other ideas but for now am planning beginning in late April to meet on Wednesday evening and Saturday morning at the Sport Park in Ofallon at the north side pavillion/restrooms (field 10 is next to it). And when all are warmed up we will do a series of 'sprints' on an open soccer field followed by the walk back, with each 'cycle' taking a couple of minutes. We'll start with slower runs (50% or so) leading to faster - everyone chooses the rate they are comfortable with.

This isn't a competition. It's just doing something healthy and actually fun with like-minded people. All adults (you must be at least 18) are encouraged to join in. The main goal is fitness but some of us may want to get something to eat afterwards too..we'll figure that out..the way I see it - it's OUR group.
