Here we go! Let's do some Improv!

There's no pressure to be funny or clever. You’re enough just the way you are and it would be totally awesome to have you join me at my first MeetUp event. Come out and learn the art of improvisation. I think this would be a great event for those that enjoy stand up and/or improv comedy. Comedy in general. Who doesn't enjoy a good laugh or two?

This will be a 90 minute class taught by local improviser, Anthony Francis. I think we'll have fun learning how to think fast on our feet, build confidence and meet new people. But this is how a typical class looks like:

We get in a circle and do some warm up activities and our instructor for the evening goes over the rules. Then we break up into smaller groups or pairs for other activities. Hopefully we should be able to be in the same group. Finally, we do some improv scenes and circle up one last time to say our goodnights.

The cost of this event is $10, I would recommend bringing cash in person. But I'm sure there are other ways to pay like debit or credit card.

What to expect:

You would sign in and take your seat, I'll see if Ruthnie can bring one of her famous Orlando Introvert signs with her so you know where to find us. Our instructor does his intro and goes over rules.

  • Improv Scenes with challenges are introduced.
  • “Warm Fuzzies” – we would then go around the room and say something you liked that someone else said or did.

Before coming to class though:

  • You should wear clothing you can bend/stretch in with no discomfort, move around in and that covers you securely.
  • You also need comfortable shoes you can move around in as well which is recommended. We might get a bit animated.
  • Let's avoid heavy colognes and perfumes, I can see why this would throw people off.
  • We need to respect the actors on stage by watching silently and applauding loudly.
  • When we're getting our Improv on, we need to keep it “clean”; meaning avoiding cursing and vulgarity. It’s a fun challenge!1
  • No hitting, jumping on or kissing anyone you don’t already have a hitting, jumping, kissing, agreement with of course.
  • If you feel uncomfortable for any reason, you can say “time out” or stop, we will stop the scene and reset or swap in and out. No worries.

Anthony has been teaching actors, business professionals, parents, students off stage since 2012. Anthony is an actor, comedian, singer, MC and host. He has performed and hosted improv shows in Chicago, New York, Portland, Miami and more. He performs a fully improvised musical comedy show called “Ant Farm”.

If you guys have any questions, feel free to reach out to me or check out Improv U at theimprovu.com. Of course we can hangout afterwards but in the middle of the week, I can understand why you can't. If we miss you, then we hope to see you at the future O-Town Introvert events. No biggie.

This class is in "GANC - CLASSROOM C".

I hope that wasn't a lot to read.
