Kick-off your Halloween Season in style and join us for the 10th Annual Forest Park Casket Races!

If you haven't been before, this is a wacky pre-Halloween event where groups of neighbors, friends, and co-workers form teams and sponsor an elaborately decorated Halloween "casket" that must have a rider and be on wheels! The teams then race against each other push-cart style down a closed section of Beloit Avenue in Forest Park for bragging rights and a trophy.

There is a DJ/Master of Ceremonies, vendors selling coffee, hot chocolate, baked treats and plenty of people in costume for some great people watching!

I'll be there by 9:30 to attempt to stake out a good vantage point to watch from along the race route on Beloit. Look for the Oak Park Social Club signage and check the MeetUp app for live location updates and join us for a fun morning! The casket parade starts at 10:30 am with casket races immediately thereafter.

After the races, those who wish to can walk over for lunch/a drink on Madison street.

This is a kid-friendly event. Madison Street vendors are offering trick-or-treating after the races all along the street to children in costume, so feel free to bring your littles along if you like!

There is no fee for this event, open to the public, everyone responsible for their own food and drink. Hope to see many of you there!
