Details
This is the Event of the Year!
Well this Meetup Group too, but I'm talking about the Eclipse on
April 8th 2024
This Celestial Event will not occur for another 20 years.
Plus we have the privilege to see it in Ontario.
Over a Million people from all parts of the world will be going to Niagara Falls and other locations to witness this event.
We want to show you how to Photograph this event properly and safely, a week before this spectacular conjuncture.
Please NOTE, this is NOT an OCC event!!
This is a PAID event of $50 per person
You will learn:
- Astronomy fundamentals
- Photography fundamentals (filters, lens choice, camera & exposure settings, technique)
- Eclipse image/field planning
- Editing/compositing for post-processing
- Eclipse obstacles & solutions
- Practice with your camera and suggestions
- Day-of-the-eclipse planning
And Need:
- A sturdy tripod (An aluminum or carbon fiber professional tripod with a ball head and hook is strongly recommended. Using your tripod should be second nature, so learn how to use it and use it often beforehand.)
- At least 2-4 camera batteries (and a charger) if you intend to do video as well
- A telephoto lens (A focal length of at least 200mm, ideally
- 150-500mm, is required if you want close-up shots of the eclipse at totality
- A telephoto lens is not required, however.
- Remote shutter release (Not required, but strongly recommended.)
- Intervalometer (Not required.)
- Neutral density filters 10 stop and a 6 stop would be great but not required for this practice session only.
I will be showing you what filters works best for your final intention of capture.
On the final day, progressive images would be best with a 16 or more Stop IR UV style filters.
- Extra Memory cards/Batteries
- Lawn chair and a good pair of sunglasses which could include ISO 12312-2 rated glasses as well.
If I've left anything out or you would like to reach out to me directly feel free.
This is a fundamental test and check of your equipment to see if you're prepared for the final event.
Thank you in advance to all the Astronomy buffs for their tips and suggestions.
If you've signed up, keep checking for updates.
Please, always be aware that it’s recommended to never look at the sun directly with your camera lens without proper protection.
