Stories of Displacement

The main objective of the “Not So Far” workshops is to create a documentary theatre performance that will explore real stories of displacement, exile, and the broader concept of borders and homeland.
The sessions at TEP39 will run from April to May and constitute preparatory work towards that goal.
Our primary material and research will focus on contemporary accounts and testimonies drawn from recent forced migrations, mainly form Middle-Eastern countries and Ukraine. We will work with techniques from the fields of documentary theatre, devised theatre and socially engaged art.
The resulting performance will first be performed in Prague’s public space, in August/September 2022.

Who can join
These sessions are open to anyone interested in performance arts and collaborative creative work, regardless of previous experience.
A sincere interest in the project’s subject matter (whether from a social, political or philosophical point of view) is highly recommended.
Participation in the workshop doesn’t constitute a final commitment - nor a guarantee - to perform in the final performance.

Participation fee:
A sliding scale of 120 Kč and up (100% of the proceeds will go to an organisation supporting refugees)

Note: if the participation fee is a real obstacle to someone’s participation, they can be lifted.
