Last Hike Of 2011 - Hever To Leigh
Details
The days are getting very short, but we've still got time for one more hike before everyone becomes far more interested in the christmas festivities.
For our final hike of the year we'll head down to the picturesque village of Hever in Kent and follow an 8 mile route through some easy terrain to the village of Leigh. If it's not too muddy we'll stop for a picnic lunch during the first half of the hike. Then at the halfway point we'll stop at a pub in the village of Chiddingstone for a toilet break and a quick drink.
We should arrive in Leigh well before sunset at 4pm where we'll finish in a pub for some well earned food and a drink or two.
We'll meet at London Bridge station at 9:45am and take the train to Hever at 10:08, arriving at 10:49.
As usual the hike is free to join, so you'll need to buy a ticket at the station. A standard single ticket to Hever costs £10 and a standard single back from Leigh costs £10.50. But if you team up with 3 other people you can buy group save tickets for half price (London to Hever £5 and Leigh to London £5.25 = £10.25 for the return journey).
Distance: 8 miles
Meeting point: London Bridge train station (outside the ticket office)
Meeting time: 9:45am
Trains back from Leigh go once an hour at 23 minutes past.
